Welsh onion
$4.00 – $8.00
(Allium fistulosum)
Also called bunching onion, Welsh onions are used as green onions (though they are large enough to have earned the nickname “poor man’s leek”, and can also be used in any recipe calling for leeks). They are perennial, and also multiply vegetatively; once they are established, divide them in the fall to increase your patch, and never buy seed from me again!
Perennial. In September break apart clumps and plant individual onions 4” apart; or start from seeds like regular onions. Used as green onions or a leek substitute.
